We walk around with our minds and bodies tied up in knots. Many of us have trouble falling asleep, or staying asleep, or both. We can feel exhausted, grouchy, moody, sad, and "down in the dumps."
Stress affects a person's ability to focus attention and to concentrate. It affects our personal relationships and level of happiness and joy. It’s affects our productivity at work, and ability to be reliable. In fact, much of chronic illness at work is caused by stress and pressure that is not handled well by the employee, and obviously creates not just disruptions at work, buy added expense to the employer.
Not surprisingly, scientific research has increasingly confirmed the crucial role stress can play in causing and aggravating different disorders such as hypertension, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes, ulcers, neck or low back pain and other "Diseases of Civilization" like cancer. Stress often contributes to injuries on and off the job through muscular tension and tightness, an inability to remain flexible and calm.
When we get stressed or tense, our brain tends to speed up and often remain at that pace for long periods of time. If we are in a crisis situation that would be expected, and would not have long term effects on our body. However, with the pace and pressure of our day to day lives, many of us live our lives with an accelerated heart rate, shallow breathing, increased muscle tension and differing levels of discomfort and pain due to this mental/emotional condition. It is far too common that injury or illness is aggravated or even caused by too much stress and tension. Often people get sick under these conditions.

Hypnosis can allow us to "retrain" our brain to slow down at appropriate times so we can function more easily without the automatic response of tension, even depression and insomnia.
